At the heart of our approach is a mentorship-driven model. Our team consists of dedicated Associate Therapists (including counsellors, art therapists, and play therapists), alongside Intern Therapists who are currently completing clinical training and practicum requirements under the supervision of experienced and qualified clinicians.

This structure provides a distinct advantage: you receive exceptional, attentive care at a significantly reduced rate. Our Associates and Interns bring fresh perspectives, current evidence-based training, and deep empathy to every session, whether you are seeking individual talk therapy, play therapy for a child, or art and sandplay therapy for healing and creative expression.

 

Affordable therapy services are provided by:

All sessions are 50 minutes long. Sessions with intern therapists start from $50, while sessions with associate therapists start from $120. We do not charge GST.

Beginning Your Journey

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. We aim to make the process thoughtful, supportive, and approachable. Here is what the process may look like when working with us.

Step 1: Book a Discovery Call

Book a complimentary 20-minute Discovery Call via our contact form below. Therapists will be recommended based on your preferences and their level of experience. This is an opportunity for us to understand what you are looking for and determine whether we are the right fit for your needs.

Step 2: The Initial Intake Session

Your first full session will be an intake assessment. Your therapist will ask questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of you or your child’s history, current challenges, and goals for therapy.

Step 3: Begin Therapeutic Work

You and your therapist will work collaboratively to develop therapeutic goals and a treatment plan. Sessions will then take place regularly, supporting the development of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship over time.

What is the difference between intern therapists and associate therapists?

Our intern therapists are therapists-in-training who are currently completing clinical training and practicum requirements as part of their postgraduate or professional qualification programmes. They work under the supervision and guidance of experienced and qualified clinicians to support safe and ethical practice. Sessions with intern therapists start from $50 per 50-minute session.

Our associate therapists are qualified practitioners who have completed their professional training and hold relevant credentials or registrations within their respective disciplines. They practise independently while being part of the ArtPlay Haus collective. Sessions with associate therapists start from $120 per 50-minute session.
Is therapy with an intern therapist really effective?

Yes. Research consistently shows that therapy provided by supervised intern therapist is just as effective as therapy from experienced professionals. The enthusiasm, dedication, and fresh perspective of an intern, combined with expert supervision, create a powerful therapeutic environment.
What about my privacy?

Your confidentiality is our highest priority. All sessions are completely confidential, adhering to strict professional and legal ethical standards. Information is only shared with the supervising clinician as part of the training process.
How long will I be in therapy for?

The length of therapy is unique to each individual and your specific goals. Some clients find short-term therapy (8-12 sessions) sufficient, while others may engage in longer-term work. This will be an ongoing conversation between you and your therapist.
What if I don't feel comfortable with my therapist?

The therapeutic relationship is key. If you feel your therapist isn't the right fit, we encourage you to discuss it with them directly or with our clinical director. We are committed to helping you find the right match, even if that means transferring you to another intern or associate therapist within our team.
